Artificial knee replacement

It involves removal of the worn or damaged joint surfaces and shaping the implantation to fit exactly between the thigh and shin bones. If the arthritis is in both knees it is also possible to operate them at the same time. Regeneration time is then only slightly longer than it would be for single knee replacement. This facilitates a patient’s rapid reintegration into normal life patterns and allows an early return to work.

Artificial hip replacement

This means, the operative incision to the hip joint is of major importance. In the sense of a more gentle procedure, a special lateral approach is made. This avoids any unnecessary separation of muscles and tendons from bone. Compared to the extensively used posterior approach this is by far the more benign method. It means that the muscular system is hardly affected by the operation, the rehabilitation period is shorter and complications such as ossification around the implanted joint are avoided.
